Riding Lessons

Our riding school is an integral part of Deen City Farm. It is a professional and friendly yard, approved by both the British Horse Society (BHS) and the Association of British Riding School. Our instructors are BHS qualified.

Each year we teach children and adults to ride through mainly private lessons for all ages and abilities six days a week (Tuesday – Sunday). We have 12 ponies and horses, who make full use of our floodlit outdoor arena and cross-country course. We also offer riding to those with disabilities, lessons in dressage and show-jumping and, on request, stable management up to BHS Stage IV. We also have a riding simulator (which we call RoboHorse) which is great for improving position, gaining confidence and learning to trot or canter.

To contact the Riding School directly, please email stablesteam@deencityfarm.co.uk or call 020 8543 5858.

What to wear for your lessons:

  • If you don't have jodhpurs or breeches then long comfortable trousers which cover your legs are fine. No shorts or cropped trousers.
  • You can hire a riding hat with your online booking.  Just look out for the hat hire box and tick it when you book our lesson and it will be added to your basket.
  • Riding boots with a smooth sole and a slight heel are suitable but we have boots you can borrow for free if needed.
  • Dress suitably for the weather: bring waterproofs if it looks like rain.
  • Shoulders and upper arm must always be covered, even in hot weather. A t-shirt is fine but a vest top is not.
  • No hoop earrings or obvious jewellery that might get caught should be worn. Small studs and a watch are fine.
  • Long hair should be tied back in a low style so we can fit a hat correctly.
  • We sell hats and boots if you wish to purchase your own. Please ask a member of staff in the yard.
